Christmas Visitation to Agape Home School

          On the 8^th of December 2014, the Leo Club of SMK Kepong Baru organized a Christmas celebration with the orphans in a home school called Agape Home School. There were 8 Leos in total who participated this celebration.

           At approximately 9am, all the Leos gathered at the front gate of SMK Kepong Baru. We then loaded the van with the gifts, props and food that we were going to bring to the home school. The first thing we did when we arrived was to put down our bags and took off our shoes. After that, we went into their school and Leo Chan Kar Yik introduced himself and explained to everyone what the purpose of the visit was and also what we were going to do there.

               We started the event by playing a few games to break the ice which were Picture Guessing and Jump Jump Tempo. The winner of the games were given a small gift as a reward. The orphans had lots of fun as they jump around happily when the received their gifts. After 2 games, it was then time for a meal as everyone were already exhausted from the game. Leo Khew Kai Syan sponsored boxes of chicken rice while the drinks were sponsored from our club.

               We continued our event by singing Christmas songs which was lead by Leo Chin Yen Ling. All of us had a lot of fun teaching the children how to sing the songs. It was a proud moment when they finally got the hang of it as most of them did not speak English well. Furthermore, we arranged a circle of chairs in the classroom so that the orphans and some of the Leos could play a game of musical chairs. The orphans were having a lot of fun running around and laughing when one of them did not get a chair to sit on.

              We then gave out small notes to every orphans and asked them to write their Christmas wishes. The notes we then collected and hung onto the Christmas tree that was in the class room. It was a really great opportunity to be able to celebrate Christmas with them. All in all it was a fun day and everyone enjoyed themselves. It was a good experience for every one of us and it taught us to be grateful for everything we have as not everyone is as blessed and fortunate as we are.

International Leo Day

In conjunction with International Leo Day which is on 5^th of December 2014, Leo Club of SMK Kepong Baru had organized a small gathering among our club members in order to both strengthen the bond of our club members and also to get to know how actually our member were changed by joining our Leo club. We were even able to promote a healthy lifestyle by getting our members in attendance to stroll along the path of FRIM, Kepong while some of us started to prepare the videotaping equipment.

Once the equipment were set up, the Organizing Chairperson, Leo Nicole would ask random questions related to Leo Club which, for example, were; Tell us your experiences you have gained throughout the years in joining Leo? What have you learned or gained from Leo? After all the videos were captured, Leo Choo Wai Lam edited the video and uploaded it to our facebook page and youtube. This project was able to truly strengthen the bond between our members as it required the cooperation of every one of the members in attendance to make sure that the video was able to be completed in time. We were also able to gain some insight on how our Leo Club was able to change them in many ways like making them more outgoing and more brave to stand in front of a crowd to give speeches or even to just do their oral exam in school, they were also able to gain new friends from other schools or even other states which would have been difficult if they had not joined Leo club.

Club Bulletin and Leo Garden Refurbishment 2014

On the 25th of November 2014, fellow Leos from Leo Club of SMK Kepong Baru returned to school during school holiday to redecorate our club's bulletin board. Our club's bulletin board is redecorate annually to update the information on the board such as the updated board of directors, awards received and the upcoming activities that would be held throughout the year. With our notice board, students will get a better understanding of what Leo is all about and also find out what they can do to help serve the community. The board was successfully completed in just one day as some preparations had been done beforehand. Not only that, on the very day itself, Leos from our club had also participated in the Leo Garden’s refurbishment. The main purpose of this project is to clear off the plant and mud from the manhole so that the manhole can be accessed. We would wish to thank Mr Avery, our gardener, Pn Lai who is our faculty advisor, Leo Leslynn Loo who is the Organizing Chairperson for Leo Garden's Refurbishment, Leo Tan Jia Wen, the Organizing Chairperson for Decoration of Club's Bulletin and the present members of Leo Club of SMK Kepong Baru who have helped make this project a success. We hope more members would involve themselves in the upcoming activities. As the next generation of Leos, may we continue to join forces to shape a better place for our community , our country and humanity from now onwards. Thank You. C:
